I wonder what one round is going to cost the taxpayers? It's a shame our politicians don't have the intestinal fortitude to actually use these weapons. Remember when our soldiers were using scrap iron to shield themselves in Humvees?

you are starting to get it David.
It's all about what it is going to cost the taxpayers (and the special intrests that profit from the taxpayers) and not about what we will actually use.)

Now if we gave just a fraction of that money to say... alternative energy development instead of weapons development just imagine the return to the taxpayers in terms of new job creation, safety (from less dependence on foriegn oil), lower energy prices and maybe even a cleaner planet. Yeah other special intrests would profit... but... it's about time the taxpyers start demanding a little more sensbile return on their dollars.

Do you know how many companies are raking in billions because of this war? (and any war for that matter)

We have the inguinity as a nation IMO to be more proactive then reactive. Instead of concentrating on spending to fight wars how about using more resources to prevent them?

On an unrelated note.. WJ... some humor... forget about rabbit hunting.. the buzz word today is quail hunting.. I hear Dick is back on the Anderson ranch.. now who of you are volunteering to be his hunting partner this time? I say we send Tom Delay after the comment he made about "science" yesterday :D

i want our military, if used, to go into a fight that is as unfair as possible (in their favor).

the last century saw 2 fights that started out or became fairly equally fights and those cost ten's of millions of deaths and casualties...look at the fights that aren't fair - the death toll is far far lower and the battlefield resolution is much quicker.

I knew someone would understand what I meant. Thanks Bossman.

Don't forget heyhey..... if a company rakes in billions, it's paying a large lump of that out in salaries. When was the last major invention by the government???

yeah and why not make that a company that also does for the common good at the same time

anyway you look at it assisting alterantive energy research is a win win for all parties (except maybe big oil and the military industrial complex)
not only creating jobs but putting money back in the economy as well.

also if we are going to continue to finance this type of battlefield and enter in such conflicts we have to be maing HUGE concessions for the ever increasing non-fatal injuries that such battlefields create

We have far far far fewer deaths then in WW2 or Viet Nam but alot more of our troops are coming home with a myriad of chronic injuires and illnesses because of the advances of the battlefield... it saves lives but are we doing enough past the initial "saving" part to protect our troops when they get home?

I have aways "got it". It's your stereotyping of all conservatives that causes you to think that we all believe the same things. No, there is no change in me and there certainly is no change in me as a result of anything you have typed in this forum. Perhaps if you stop assuming that all conservatives think and believe the same, that you will "get it".

And what would the unemployment lines look like without all the jobs connected to big oil? Don't forget the poor moonlighters working in the convenient stores either.

I love all the worry about how much it costs for anything the military does. Where does the money actually end up? Does it just go up in smoke, or is it paid right back into the private sector? Rebuilding M1A1 tanks goes into the wallets of American workers in Anniston, Al. and workers in Ohio. Why not start wringing your hands about how much a stamp costs too. The USPO is the largest employer of minorities in this country. The government is just a huge employer. So what? At least it isn't going to China, and other foreign countries, like it is when you buy merchandise from Wal-Mart and any other merchandise store you can name. Breathe in a bag. It'll be all right!!

Quail hunting is not so easy. They wait until you walk past them then they fly. Often more then one fly at a time and in different directions.

It is stupid to hunt quail with someone unless they have years of experiance.

Once when I flushed about 20 quail at once (I dont have a dog) I almost shot myself in my face. :D

FYI I dont hunt much but I do fish. I have put out enough bird seed to feed and support almost one thousand as many birds as I shot.

If there were no hunters then the game would not have an ability to support a population and would be extinct.

Large amonts of land are owned by hunters that only take 10% of the game.
Remove hunters lose the other 90% of the game.

Its actually easy to see which issues are valid. All you need to do is seperate the facts from preconcieved beliefs.
