If so, maybe you should reconsider.....

I will gladly quit when everyone else in my business does. Till then, it would put me at a terribly uncompetative price disadvantage.
First purchase was a bic lighter. Did not buy the cheep china lighters like I usually have.

Waiting, its a novel idea, but completely idealistic. Our two economies are very intertwined, and it would be almost impossible to use NO Chinese products.

Right Drisley: But we could cut down on buying Chinese merchandise........Like no cheap Chinese bic lighters please.....
BIC - the "made in the USA" stamp matters.
Now the labor intensive products from Third world countries LIKE China I will still buy. But the quality needs to be there. Nike tennis shoes "hand shined" by the Chinese peasants are a bargain in more ways that one.

Most of that Spy Plane parts were made in China.
Start making something on your own- then you won't need buy anything from China....
Could be, it was just an airplane with lots of communications and computer equipment.
:) :)
Added happy faces in case my sarcasm was not clear.

I don't want to put a "flame" here, but, I'm very sorry, Bob you're most HIPOCRYTE on Forums.
Remember, "THe Rich gets richer, the poor gets poorer"
You suggest- US gets RICHER, China gets POORER.
People should threat other people the same way
Maybe China thinks same way and WINS- CHINA gets RICHER and US gets POORER.
IT already happened- YOUR Dems LOST and Republicans WON.(YOU thought that Dems will win but IT didn't happen) One day it might happenen with US-CHINA(not Rep/Dem).
Would you start working for Chinese for a $1.00 a day instead of $50.000 a year?
It already happened with Dems, They tought, they'll be on TOP.
Do you think about?
Are yo(and many others)u a USER('s)?
US, US uber alles?(remember Deutchland, Deutchland uber alles)
My wording isn't good, but I hope you get my point.
$50.000 a year - start working for Chinese
Funny as it seems is I did just that after I was laid off. It was a pay cut too.
Exactly 50,000 per year. Most are Taiwan supporters some are Chinese nationalists with a good portion of Vietnamese and you have the IT department I just started working in last month.
Do you understand my posts better than I understand yours? ;)

I will buy the product that offers the lowest cost to utility ratio. I don't care if it's made in the US or made in China. I certainly defend anyone else's right to not buy chinese products. Just don't try to pass any laws that try to curtail my buying decisions.

Presently, we have a choice....to buy chinese products or not to buy them. We still have some small freedoms left. And we should exercise them before the Govt tells us we can't do it.

OK... Just wondering what parts you were going to use as most of them come from China, Tiawan, etc.

Hal: all I'm saying is: If it says "made in China"........I'd prefer to buy American even if it cost a lot more to buy USA products.......You understand.
Glad to see you here Hal9000, love your sarcasm.
Some conservatives seem to have a problem understanding the difference between a whole and the sum of it's parts.
I would rather buy the least expensive but if in a conflict with China [now] would rather buy from Taiwan.
The exact policy our country should use now is complex.
As consumers and patriots we can just not buy at least one item from China while this problem persists. If millions of people just stop buying products from China until this issue is resolved then they will know that "We the people" of the US have a voice. They will learn what freedom really is.

On a general note, it is far better to buy goods made by your own country for two reasons
a) Your own goods are made by fellow countrymen, whose job, and the local economy depends on your support.
b) Goods made in places like China rely on virtually slave labour, paying very low wages. By buying these goods you are prolonging and agreeing with the evil system.

acctually, international trade has pretty much no effect on the total employment levels of a country. (at least directly, which is the way most people think about it. there are long-term increase in employment because both countries have healthier economies for the trade)
what international trade does affect is the types of goods made by a country. so buying domestic goods will not keep employment rates high, but buying a domestic good will help keep that particular type of good to remain locally made.
and again, i completely defend anyone's free buying choices. so if you want to buy locally, that's your business, and i'll happily defend your right to do so.
