Was watching Discovery channel last night and there was a show on scientific evolution that attempts to disprove the credibility of evolution. It shows that there are more than several "missing links" or sudden jumps in evolution that scientists can not find evidence for. One of the most popular known "missing links" is the evolution of man but most other people who follow science know that there is a more significant missing link and that is the one between reptile and birds.

WindeC may explain that lapse. :p
The lapse in the fossil record is understandable. In order for fossils to form you would need a major event like an asteroid hitting the earth. It buries the animals and they have a chance to become fossils. They would be eaten or rot away in most other cases.

So do you believe in Evolution or do you believe that our universe is shaped like a soccer ball? :p

Do you believe in Adam and Eve WindeC?
Do you believe the earth is flat? Does it require a belief to know that it is round?

I believe that the earth is flat because my buddy flew to egypt from NY and then met me in thailand where I came from a Korean flight via Seattle. ;)
Then for you it is truely flat. ;)

You never answered my question about the soccer ball. ;)
The universe is expanding (or was). So, take all points in space and expand them in all known dimensions - what do you get? Answer a shit-load of expanding spheres. What happens when they get in each other’s space then don’t they collide? What is the effect of those collisions?
Imagine a bunch of balloons in a confined area. When they expand against the others they create what basic shapes?

Why is it always "evolution vs. creation"? Ever think that god uses evolution to create living things?
Evolution and creation are not mutually exclusive.

I often wonder if that is the case troy, except I don't really think we all evolved from monkeys or dirt.

The idea that we evolved from dirt is a wild assumption by scientists who haven't the slightest idea. Its actually funny...because you can read a biology book on evolution, it make sense and all, but then you get to where it all started, in the famous "sea of ammonia", and anybody with an intellect has to be thinking at that point - these guys haven't the slightest idea.
When it comes to these kinds of matters, it all boils down to faith basically. Whether you have stories in the Bible, another religion, or the "truth" of modern science, its all faith. You can either believe the priests in the church in their frocks or the ones in the lab with the white coats. Or, like Troy, you can think it may be a mix of both.

When I think of the republicans, I find it easier to accept and believe the notion that we came from dirt.

Genesis III, 19: "By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return."

So far Troy is the only one that seems to see the bigger picture.
CH there is a link between dinosours and birds. ;)

Science seeks the truth it does not pretend to have found it. There is a huge difference between faith in a religion and trying to figure out how things began using the current set of facts. People who understand science know that what we think is the truth today may very well change tomorrow. Just because we don't know every detail about evolution doesn't mean it does not best explain how we got here at this time.

The 2 can and do coexist (IMHO).
The universe (big bang or no) had to start somewhere and sometime. God did it.
The galaxies and stars formed and organized by natural/physical laws, the solar system and the earth were formed.
Life, single cell organisms, came into being. God did it. the ball started rolling and evolution kept the ball rolling.
multicelled organisms became fish, plants, reptiles, avians, mammals, quadrapeds, and then bipeds all thru evolution. Along the way the primate bipeds, became more and more homo sapien-like and then God reached down and infused the "soul" and those beings made the jump from "animal" man to human.
what is so hard here?

When I was little and dragged off to Sunday School we had to sing some dumb song "All things bright and beautiful, the Lord God made them all"
I was only 4 or 5 but I remember thinking "What about all things nasty scary and slimy? Why should we thank him for cute little bunny rabbits and overlook spiders?"
bossman I think that creationist do the adam and eve thing as an alternate to evolution. While I can reluctantly live with God creating the first little spark of the big bang, I cannot accept Adama and Eve, etc.

Well, I believe Adam and Eve were parents, but not the parents of the entire race. I think they might have been parents of the white race perhaps. I said perhaps here, this is just a guess. But it makes quite a bit of sense in some ways.
WindeC, everyone knows they were black. :)
Lucifer, I would probably have thought the same thing if I had to go there. Sundays are for fishing not being the fish. ;)

Maybe they were, I am just saying that I don't believe they were the parents of the whole human race.
