DURHAM, New Hampshire (CNN) -- After months of bitter infighting, the Episcopal Church consecrated Rev. Gene Robinson Sunday as bishop of the New Hampshire Diocese — the first openly gay man to reach that level in the church hierarchy and in the Anglican community worldwide.

"You cannot imagine what an honor it is for you to have called me," Robinson preached afterward, on the verge of crying. But he also noted that many people in the church were in "great pain" because of his promotion.

Robinson's selection to be bishop set off panic and anger among church conservatives, who believe that gay and lesbian relationships violate Christian teaching.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America had done that in the early 90's.

You think it will ever happen with the Catholics?

Huh? They are quiet about doing their boys - they do not consider that openly gay.

As I'm sure you know, they are "pro-creation" so anything that is "anti-creation" is the work of the devil. Homosexuality and the use of birthcontrol is taboo in the Catholic faith. Why do you think Catholic families have so many damn kids.

Problem comes when Peace Corp comes in and teaches these catholic communities about birth control. They had westerns come and colonize them, beat the living catholic faith into them to later have westerners come back and tell them to wear a willie.

Catholic countries do not seem to do to well. If you have all the answers then there is no need to search for them. They stagnate and live for death. It is quite sad.

Anyway, it's still obvious that you posted this thread to rectify your own sexual identity...didn't you. :p

Now if only the rest of the Catholic world could see that and keep their feet on the ground and their eyes off the heavens, we'd be doing alright.
