As some of you may know, US troops have been stationed in S.Korea for many years after the establishment of the 38th parallell dividing North and South Korea. For those of you that don't know, there are 37,000 US troops in South Korea and there to help guard the heaviest armored and most tensous border line in all of the world presently.
The US has recently requested the assistance of S.Korea to send armed troops ready for battle to Iraq. S.Korea has already sent some 100 - 300 non-combantant troops but have not sent combantant troops yet.
The Newly elected S.Korea president has more than a headache from the 50/50 undecision of support from both his government leaders and general population.
Do you think that S.Korea is obligated and/or should send troops to Iraq to aid US in their endevors?
No.
We should remove our troops from Korea too.

com'mon bob. answers without explaination and opinion kills threads. thought you knew better than that. ;)
anyway.............so you don't think that S.Korea owes it to the US to show their support now so that is garrantees support for the nuclear crisis they have with N.Korea?
and.............do you really think that we should remove our presence from the DMZ where a enemy, in which Bush publically named, and part of the evil axis?
we went to war with Iraq because we "thought" they had WMD. the leader of NK flat out says he does and even says that he is not afraid to use them.
what would that do to the legitamacy of US foreign politics?
Let the UN put troops there if there is a need. I do not want my tax dollars going to help some (Non tax paying offshore) US companies to exploit the Korean resources.

What do you mean?
What was unclear? Why do we need thousands of troops there when we could level the place from the air.
Why can't S Korea defend it's self. Is it because a free nation is weaker than one goverened by a dictator.

Personally, I think that the US should take the responsiblity of cleaning up their own mess. At the same time, I think that the US should rely on global opinion on how to rebuild Iraq as the wold is closely watching with alot of skeptism.
I agree, also that S. Korea needs to responsibiliy of their own situation right now and the US should butt out for awhile. S. Korea nees to refamiliar itself with their own immediate threat and how they see themselves in the future.
The reason the UN is not in Iraq is that bush can still make his friends money rebuilding it and also wants the oil.
You will find different opinions here. Hell... there is one asshole here that thinks Israel is a first world country. LOL

What's the definition of a "First World Country"?

The definition needs to be updated, but most of what they saw is true. For example, there is no longer a 2nd world country since the deletion of communisim. We now call these nations "developing nations" rather than 2nd world countries because they are not quit a first world nation.
Also, the above link lacks the explaination that a first world nation needs to be "subsistent" -- being able to support itself. In other words, if all nations fell off the face of the earth, a first world nation should be able to survive economically with little damage for x amount of years. For this reason, countries like Japan or S.Korea should never be considered 1st world nations although they are one of the riches nations in the world.

The First World is the developed world - US, Canada, western Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, etc.. Hmmm.. it certainly looks like Israel should fit in with this bunch rather than the the "third world" your link refers to.... specially since, as you say, there is no longer a "second world".
They don't fit in anywhere - that is their problem. :D

Israel is a developing nation. It is not a 3rd world nation because it has enough infrastructure but can not be a 1st world nation because it does not have a stabblized government or the sense national identity is also a problem.
If you don't agree about this, take it up with Samuel Hunttington.

China is a hole'nother subject. I'd like to add that you faggots did a real good job of veering this subject from sending S.Korea troops to Iraq to Global Perspectives 101: Learning the Basics course.
:<
Asked and answered - but I think you should understand that this is an upper division class that has prerequisites - including Global Perspectives 101: "Learning the Basics course".
Now I need to tell you that Self Perspectives 1: "Understanding your Sexuality" is also required. :)
