I'm not sure what he would be except for damn thirsty.http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/boozer.gif
I'd hand him a sixer of Mikes, he probably brought his own brownies if the stories are correct.

Jesus would join me and Don in the ultimate Mike's/Brownies tour.

I wonder if he would ignore politics...and just worry about the saving souls...but politics is so much a part of everything today I don't know if he cpuld spread his message effectivly without joining in on everything we as people are involved in...Q

I'm with HAL. He would probably be a non-statist communist of some sort. That's what he was originally. His disciples shared everything they had with each other, that was their system. But I doubt Jesus would run for office. He would probably just be more pissed off at what people running for office have done and said in his name.

Do you think he would "go on record" as to what we (collectively as people world wide) are doing wrong and try and show us a better way?

Doctorgonzo what you are talking about is Socialism not Communisim, there is a very big difference.

Yes most definitely Jesus would be a socialist simply because it is the ideal system. Unfortunately human beings are not capable of living in an ideal system, there will always be those that want more than their fair share.

as a very large part of the problem here now.

Good one, there fragmyster. Didn't Jesus also say it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter Heaven? Didn't he once tell somebody to give up all his possessions and follow Jesus to get to Heaven, but the man couldn't do it? Given Republican demographics, I think we can figure out what Jesus would be saying about the Republicans.

Jesus spent time with those who were shunned by society, the prostitutes and the tax collectors. If that isn't liberal, I don't know what is. :)

Does anyone know or care? I mean, realistically, the things that Jesus said as relayed in the Bible are recollections written long after the time Jesus was around. What's more, the Bible has been edited so many times that it probably bears little resemblance to the original anymore.

Then again, in Jesus' day the rich men were the Romans, who were extremely corrupt and polytheistic. The rich were generally the sinful then. That is not necessarily true today. Being rich opens a whole new can of worms and makes it harder to stay moral. But that doesn't mean it can't be done. There are a lot of filthy rich people who are wonderful people who give a lot of money for good. I'm not talking about your Enron officials. But there are good rich people. When examining the context of Jesus' words you must also see it in context of the time. Jesus would not have been able to say 'astronauts are cool' because it wouldn't have made sense to the people of his time. During His time, the rich were the corrupt Romans. They were the Enron-esque CEO's if you will.

What's different from now.

"Being rich opens a whole new can of worms and makes it harder to stay moral. But that doesn't mean it can't be done."

It should be much easier to be moral if you are rich. If you are rich you can afford to make moral choices regarding money. It is hard for poorer people to do that.

"If Jesus were to come back today would he be a democrate or republican?"

If he were in China, the USA or Russia he would probablly be laughed at. Otherwise he would be assanated by one of those people. This world is as much or more about power as the other.

He could start with a net id until he got enough followers to protect him all over the world.

If he makes a mistake he can come back to life and try again. :D

It would be nice to have Jesus hiding in my Californian atheist household.

I would feel that I was still correct not to believe, while I was being set straight and learned his message of the correct political right-wing positions of his ministers. (minions (sp) ).
It would be more fun that argueing here. ;) :D
