Left Behind series of novels were NY Times bestsellers and great novels, the movie was poorly funded and badly produced I believe....
Besides books are always better than the movies. Except maybe Lord of The Rings to a certain degree.
BTW, Don that's what you read to find out how to destroy Sauron, oops! gave away the ending.
How do you know when to show up like this ? Kinda weird ya know. BTW I read the books 6-7 of them. Quartz is making some kind of attempt to let my beanie down and convert.

;) You two... :) sometimes I just don't know what to make of you guys.
But why would she want you to convert? Then you might get serious about life and not be any fun. I know a lot of "Christians" who haven't smiled in a year. Heck, you might even try to forgive my friend Sauron.

This is what I read about those books:

Given that, I don't feel the need to read them anytime soon. I have a real problem listening to evangelical Christians constantly talk about how we need Israel so it can be destroyed in the Second Coming, just like Revelations says. Talk about sick.

IMO the huge popularity of the "Left Behind" series only shows the vast scope of insecurity and fear many Christians have regarding any hereafter.

That's why it's fun to be agnostic. No hereafter, no worries! Just pass the beer and the bong. :D

you guys just get to serious about things...I am a si-fi-fan and this is a great reading...of course if it were to happen...I don't want to go in the rapture...I want to hang out and see the good stuff...Q
I read the series and thought it was alright until they ruined my thoughts by making that dumb movie.
What can I say it was suggested reading by the jail staff LOL;)

Too bad about the movie experience, Don, I haven't read them, I heard quite a few episodes on the audio tracks and thought the acting, storyline, suspense and production was good.
Not a big end-timer myself (though I love the mystery in Revelation!), was bombarded with the ones who overdid it in the late 70's when I became a Christian (boy, did that thought shock me- am I gonna become - a Christian??). I want to make myself as ready for anything as possible and not tell others how they gotta do this and they gotta do that cuz Jesusiscoming-Jesusiscoming- Jesusisscoming-jesusiscoming!!!!!!!
He is here, now, living in my heart and through the mouths of friend and stranger in a Voice which I can hear better as I learn to ignore the voices of the my selfishness, the peer pressure of my totally upside down culture and the invsible enemy tempting me to hate myself and see life as if the God who is Love isn't living inside of me or truly cares for me. That's my kind of true religion. Here and now, then Heaven!! With a lot of bumpy road in between.
Okay, I'm off my soap box now.

According to my speculations, the Protestants have been forecasting the end of the world ever since Martin Luther. Every time I go into a major city, I always see this group holding signs and screaming : REPENT REPENT! Jesus is coming! THE END OF THE WORLD IS HERE!

Wow, I thought those times were over, Sauron....
You see, that's my beef with those kind of "Christians," it seems to me they are trying to control others through the end times teachings of Revelation (eschatology, some call it).
When someone tries to control in the name of Christ instead of love, well, that makes me mad.
God is the Creator of mankind and free will, otherwise He would have made Adam and Eve mental robots instead of free agents with the ability to disobey.
Oh man, I've only been up for ten minutes and I've already gotten started.... KILL EM ALL!! LET GOD SORT EM OUT. :D

Besides Sauron...
the book of revelation is about excepting Jesus...that's all...asking for forgivness, there are no other rules to it..you just have to believe...read the book of revelation when you get to the end say the prayer...if you really believe you will be raptured and not have to go thru the "end times" I said the prayer and asked to be left behind anyways....cuz this quartzhunter has allways liked a good fight!;)

Y'know, J, I have a Catholic friend, she's a cantor for one of my favorite churches, and she just loved the entire series. I was mildly surprised that a Catholic would enjoy the series. But good writing is good writing- and I think it would appeal to the dark side of you, too.
hehe
Edit: Just realized that this post sort of leaves one wondering who the hell I am addressing. :D That appeals to the dark side in me....
